Core Materials:
Workshop slides

Reviewing: where to start?
• Workshop slides/video recordings (it would be handy to print out the
Workshop slides so that you have a ‘reference book’ for reviewing and
checking during the exam).
• Take notes when you review the learning materials.
• Pay attention to the areas where you struggled.
• Complement the core learning materials with recommended textbook
readings.
5
Exercises
• Use Workshop examples and case studies as exercises and try to solve
them independently without looking at the solutions.
• After reviewing the Workshop learning materials, you can then use
examples and questions in the textbook as additional exercises (only
those from relevant sections of relevant chapters)
• Attempt practical examples and questions in the textbook
• Check your answers to the examples and practical questions against
the solutions provided in the textbook and on Keats
• Identify where and why it has gone wrong
• Quality is more important than quantity!
6
Past Exam Papers
• Past exam paper and solutions are available on Keats.
• You can use exam paper as a mock test after finishing the
revision.
• Coverage of the Syllabus has been consistent in the past few
years.
• But the format of the questions is slightly different. There
were four questions in the past exam paper.
7
Create your own list of formula
• It would be a good idea to prepare your own formula sheet
while reviewing the learning materials for the module.
• This would help you to understand the formula better. As I said
in the module, it is important for you to understand the
formula and how to apply them flexibly.
• Perhaps, you could also summarize different forms of the
formula in your self-constructed formula sheet.
• Use your own formula sheet as a reference for the final exam.

A few Practical Tips
• I do not have a strict rule on the decimals for the final answer
in the exam. But it is better to write the numbers with 2nd/3rd
decimals throughout the working to minimize the rounding
error in the final answer.
• It is always a good practice to write down the formula first in
your answer book before calculating with figures. In case that
you choose the wrong inputs, partial marks may still be
awarded for the correct formula.
• Please show the complete working throughout in order to gain
full marks, not just the final answer. You may still gain some
marks if the final answer is wrong but the working is
methodologically correct.

How to deal with doubtful situation in final exam?
• Final exam questions in nature are different from multiple choice
questions.
• Of course, you are still expected to use your best judgement in deciding
on the most appropriate approach to solve the question.
• But in case that you feel there may be alternative solutions, please feel
free to write them down. There is no penalty on providing extra answers
for the attempted question.
