Innovation Framework Assessment Guide
IMPOTANT INFO
Due: 23:59 Monday, 23rd of October 2023 (Week 12)
ULOs assessed: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
Length: 1500 words (PLUS recorded video presentation – see below)
Weight: 35% (5% based on peer evaluation)
Groupwork: Yes
Overview of task:
The CEO of Breville has invited you to join their new “innovation taskforce” to evaluate innovation
opportunities, and identify potential new directions the company should invest in. Specifically, the
CEO wants you to identify, recommend and justify the most significant innovation opportunity for
the company.
In small groups, you will apply the ‘Real Win Worth It Framework” to analyse innovation
opportunities and issues in Breville. You will ascertain and recommend if the innovation is worth
pursuing, if the innovation project is feasible, and ultimately if the company can succeed in
pursuing your chosen innovation project. Drawing initially on your efforts from your individual
strategy case report, your team will start by sharing and building upon your evaluations of
Breville, to identify larger innovation opportunities. You will then apply the RWW framework to
identify the best innovative direction for Breville, justify your recommendation(s), and present these
to an executive audience (CEO/Board) through two key outputs: an executive report and
presentation.
Outputs:
Your team is responsible for developing two assessment outputs:
1. A 1500-word executive report -- exclusive of references -- that should include: − Your process
of innovation evaluation
− Judicious application of the RWW framework
− Application of other relevant innovation concepts
− Formulation of clear, coherent recommendation(s)
2. A pre-recorded video presentation − Executive overview of application of framework and
recommendation(s)
− 5 slides only
− Each team member must present at least one slide
− Approximately 5-8min in total length

The purpose of the two outputs is to give you an opportunity to gain skills with different
communication formats, and to practice verbally presenting recommendations from a written
report, which is an important capability.
Real Win Worth It Framework
As a group assignment, you will receive a group mark for 30% of the assignment grade. To assess
your individual contribution to the group work, the remaining 5% of your mark will be determined
from a peer evaluation process on Canvas.
Through the peer evaluation, you will have the opportunity to give and receive feedback to all
members of your team against a set of criteria. The aim of the peer evaluation is to ensure
accountability amongst group members, and to support you in building your capacity to give and
receive meaningful feedback.
Your final mark out of 5 will be made up of the average score from your teammate’s rating, as
well as whether you have engaged with the feedback you’ve received.
Instructions on the peer evaluation process, including how to give feedback and engage with the
feedback you receive, will be provided on Canvas.
Feedback
Groups will receive written feedback from their teacher on their reports and presentations via
Canvas. Students will also receive individual peer feedback from their group members on their
contribution to the group assessment.
