My dear grandma,Tracy,a college professor in China, grown
up in during the war. Since then, she became a supporter of
Feminist Rhetoric.
She is passionate about gender equality. Because From
Historically, women have been systematically disadvantaged
in most societies.Males always treat their discriminatory
practices, such as denying them the right to vote, unequal pay,
and limited access to education and employment opportunities,
were commonplace. The struggle for gender equality gained
momentum in the late 19th and 20th centuries with women's
suffrage movements, but it is an ongoing battle.Everytime we
sit together she told me that Gender equality is a fundamental
principle of human rights and social justice. It refers to the
equal rights, responsibilities, and opportunities of all
individuals, regardless of their gender. Achieving gender
equality is not only a moral imperative but also crucial for the
overall development and progress of societies. The Gender
equality ensures that every individual has the same
opportunities to reach their full potential regardless of their
gender. This principle helps in dismantling the stereotypes and
biases that have traditionally limited the roles and aspirations
of individuals based on their gender.
As a male, I’m not totally agree with her opinions at first, In
my mind, Male are usually a level above the female,no matter
in school, working area or etc. Then she’d contradict me and
said that was the stereotypes of male. It have traditionally
limited the roles and aspirations of individuals based on their
gender. Nevertheless, it has many challenges to achieving
gender equality beacuse of deep-seated cultural and societal
norms often perpetuate gender disparities. For instance, in
many parts of the world, girls still face barriers to accessing
education. Without education, women are less likely to secure
well-paying jobs, escape poverty, and participate fully in
society. Not only it, but also violence Against Women was
normal.Gender-based violence is a global epidemic. It
includes physical, sexual, and psychological abuse, and it
affects women of all ages, races, and socioeconomic
backgrounds. So,addressing this issue is critical to achieving
gender equality. But it is tough to solve it. That means
governments and international organizations should enact and
enforce laws and policies that promote gender equality. These
include measures to address the gender pay gap, combat
gender-based violence, and sex discrimintation.
After that, I learn that gender equality is not just a women's
issue; it's a societal issue that impacts everyone. Achieving
gender equality requires a multifaceted approach that
addresses cultural norms, legislation, education, and economic
opportunities. It is not an ideal,it is a goal.
