Midterm data set guide – BUS 351
1) The Sales Transaction data set: This data set provides information about sales
transaction for an online book store. The columns are self-explanatory. You will be
asked to create Pivot tables to answer questions.
2) The Beverage Sales data set: This data set provides information about beverage sales
and the maximum temperature for the day. You will be asked to perform descriptive
analytics on this data set (mean, median, mode, variance, standard deviation etc.)
and analyze the relationship between the two variables.
3) The Student Grades data set: This data set provides information about midterm and
final exam scores for students. “Final Exam” is the dependent variable and “Midterm”
is the independent variable. The NULL hypothesis states that midterm and final exam
are not related. You will be required to create a regression model for this dataset and
answer questions in the exam.
4) The Major League Baseball data set: The data set contains baseball statistics for teams
for the 2010 season. “Won” is the dependent variable and all the other variables are
independent variables. You will be required to create a multiple linear regression
model and correlation matrix for this dataset to answer questions in the exam.
5) The Auto Survey data set. The data set contains survey information gathered from a
few customers. MPG is the dependent variable. Type, Purchased, Vehicle Age and
Mileage are independent variables. You will be required to create a multiple linear
regression model and correlation matrix for this dataset to answer questions in the
exam.
6) The Home Price data set: The data set contains information about the Market Value of
different houses based on the age and square footage. Identify the dependent and
independent variables. You will be required to create a multiple linear regression
model and correlation matrix for this dataset to answer questions in the exam.
IMPORTANT: You can work with your friends/classmates to analyze the datasets
and create.
NO collaboration is allowed on the midterm exam on Friday (06/10).
