Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. Describe the overview of supply chain and e-logistics management and its
importance in different industries.
2. Apply the principles and quantitative methods to make decisions in supply and
demand management.
3. Explain how digitization of supply chain and e-logistics activities may enhance
efficiency in digital business operations.
Details
This is an individual written assignment. Students are required to produce a report of a case study to analyze or
evaluate supply chain strategies in the digital age. This assignment is used mainly to assess learning outcomes
2 and 3.
The University of Pennsylvania has developed well-structured procurement services over the years
(https://cms.business-services.upenn.edu/purchasing/) with the utilization of electronic purchasing and finance
systems, internet-based marketplace, and portals for FAQ and suppliers.
The student report should summarize the best practice and discuss how it benefits digital business operations
from the users’ (buyers’), the suppliers’ and the administrative perspectives. The report should also make
recommendations on potential enhancements for the procurement services of Hong Kong Metropolitan
University.
Regulations
i. The report should contain no more than 1000 words (excluding cover page, table of contents, list of
references and appendices).
ii. The information of: full student name, student number and tutorial group number and word count, should
be clearly stated on the cover page of the report.
iii. A complete reference list should be provided at the end of the report.
iv. All writings must be in your own words. If direct copying from any source is found, it will result in zero
mark to the corresponding part or the whole assignment.
v. The report, in MS Word, must be submitted to OLE by 5:00 pm on the submission due date. For late
submission, there will be a 10%-mark deduction incurred for each calendar day overdue until the soft copy
of the assignment is submitted to OLE.
