MKTG 553Q: Customer Relationship Management
Professor Ram Janakiraman Guidelines and Assessment Criteria: Group Project Presentations and Project Report Use the following guidelines/suggestions to structure your presentation and report. 1. Introduction What is your research question? Why do you care? Why should we care? What is your key hypothesis/expectations? How would this be useful to managers/stakeholders? 2. Data What is the source of data? Explain the data and the variables in detail and explain how they are constructed. Explain all the data engineering steps that you undertook to assemble your final data from the raw data. 3. Exploratory data analysis Present relevant descriptive statistics, including summary statistics and visualization of the data. Explain what you learned from data visualization and exploratory analysis and how you developed your models based on these steps. 4. Model estimation and results Present the details of your models (initial and final set of models, if any). Model formulation is the crucial step. Explain the dependent variable and the set of independent variables. Present the results of the model(s). Compare the results of the basic model to the final model, if applicable. Present the results of the model(s) related to calibration data and test data, if applicable. Provide nice screenshots or sample SAS codes, if possible. 5. Results and managerial takeaways Highlight the key results and managerial implications of the study (in simple/non-technical terms). 6. Limitations Conclude with a discussion on the limitations associated with your study and include ideas for possible future research/how you can address some of the limitations. Submissions Note: All files should follow the following nomenclature: GroupName_XYZ where “XYZ” is the type of document (slides, report, SAS code etc.) • Upload the raw data and the cleaned data in your group page. • Upload the SAS code – as a single file- in your group page. • Post the final slides in your group page. • Post the final report in your group page. Assessment Criteria The maximum possible points in the Group Project is 100. Points distribution for the project presentation and executive summary will be as follows: • Project Presentation: 75 points • Executive Summary: 25 points I’ll focus on the following assessment areas as I grade the group project presentation. Assessment Area Introduction Did the group present the research question clearly? Did the group present their key hypothesis/expectations? Did the group explain how the project would be useful to managers/stakeholders? Data What is the source of data? Did the group explain the data and the variables in detail and how the variables are constructed? Did the group explain all the data engineering steps that were taken? Exploratory data analysis Did the group present relevant descriptive statistics, including summary statistics and visualization of the data? Are the graphs and the visual plots correct, complete and explained coherently? Did the group explain what they learned from data visualization and exploratory analysis and how they developed their models based on these steps? Model estimation and results Did the group present the details of the various models? Did the group explain the dependent variable(s) and the set of independent variables? Was the analysis appropriate, complete and informative? Did the group present any advanced techniques (over and above what was taught in the course)? Did the group present any prediction analyses? Overall analysis and results Overall quality of the analysis and communication of the results will be considered, based on each project’s topic Are the results well explained? Are the findings insightful / interesting / novel? Overall Presentation Is the verbal presentation correct, complete, and convincing? Is the visual presentation appealing, informative, and well-structured? Are the verbal and visual presentations clearly related? Are the slides informative and appealing?
