FNCE10002 Principles of Finance
1. This is an open book exam. Students are permitted to have any materials in their possession.
2. The marks for each question are as indicated. Answer all questions. 3. There is a total time limit of 150
minutes which includes a 15 minute reading time, a 120 minute writing time and a 15 minute upload time.
4. The sample exam questions are only available via the Assignments/Sample Final Exam/Sample Final Exams link.
Your responses to these questions must be entered or uploaded via this link, which is implemented through
Gradescope. To avoid cluttering your screen the exam questions will open in a new tab or window and you will be prompted to do so.
5. Once you commence the sample exam you will not be able to exit and re-enter the Gradescope portal.
6. For full credit show all your calculations where relevant, including formulas used. Notes to Instructions 1. Note that the number of questions
on the actual final exam may differ from the sample exams. I will upload the cover page, the instructions pages
and the formula sheet pages for the actual final exam to the LMS before the exam date. Obviously, the sample exams
will not be marked and the answers to these exams will be available via the Modules/Sample Final Exams link.
2. The exam time limit indicated will be the same as for the actual final exam. On Gradescope,
only the total time limit will be displayed via a countdown timer. It is up to you to determine how you wish to use this total time.
3. There are certain “features” of Gradescope that are hardwired and cannot be changed so
please make sure you’re familiar with these. Gradescope does not provide any time warnings so it is essential that
you keep close track of the total time remaining via the countdown timer. It also does not provide a warning
when you click to submit your work so be careful not to submit anything before you’re ready!
FNCE10002 Principles of Finance Semester 1, 2021 Sample Final Examinations – LMS Version 2 of 2 4.
Students who have an approved Alternative Exam Arrangement (AEA) will be informed about the revised
time duration relevant to them via emails closer to the final exam date. 5. For each question,
you will have the option of entering your answer directly or by uploading handwritten text as a
picture (JPG/PNG) or PDF file. The expectation is that calculations will likely be handwritten and
uploaded by you while the answers to other questions will likely be entered directly in the spaces provided.
6. If you are handwriting and uploading your answers as picture or PDF files you must upload the
answers to all question parts in the space provided after the question stem. Answers to questions
placed in the wrong area will not be marked. 7. Gradescope recommends Scannable by
Evernote (iPhone/iPad) or Genesis Scan (Android) for scanning handwritten text. It is not necessary to
use these applications if you are more comfortable with another, similar application.
