Submission is via the VLE module submission point. The deadline is 12:00 noon on 27/5/2021, Summer Term, Week 6, Thursday. Please try and submit early as any late submissions will be penalised. ELE00123M ELE00123M Research Methods Theory Assignment (100%) – 2020/21 Hand in electronically via the VLE using departmental standard process This assignment assesses your understanding of different research methodologies and your ability to design and use data collection methods. You are required to write a journal style report using Harvard referencing using a template from any Harvard style journal e.g. Sage Journal addressing the following hypothetical scenario: ● As a primary researcher working for the York City Council, you have been assigned to a new project investigating the potential of emerging Assistive Technology solutions to improve the wellbeing of people living with disabilities in care homes. Your role in this project is to help the Council plan some interviews and get first-hand information from credible sources. In this context, you need to: 1. Design a research proposal with clear objectives for conducting interviews. 2. Based on these objectives, apply the research onion model from Saunders et al. (2009) addressing the following: ● Using evidences from your desktop research; discuss the potential interviewing methods that can be applied to a project like this. Choose a particular interview method and justify your choice. ● Discuss the philosophy that applies to your research. ● Discuss the complete process of Sampling: Who will be the proposed participants for the interview and why? How many samples would you recommend? How will you make contact with your potential participants for the interview? 3. What are the ethical considerations or implications of the chosen interview method for this research project? 4. Taking into account your chosen interview method, create an interview guide. 5. Design a consent form specific to your interview method. 6. How will you capture, store and analyze the information gained from the interview? (Please note: YOU DO NOT need to interview anyone for this assignment.
